Historical Mystery Writer Launches Audio Book

TORONTO, ON, CANADA, May 11, 2009 - Soames Point Press is proud to announce the launch of the audio book of Gifts and Bones  written by Barbara Murray and narrated by Canadian storyteller, Allice Bernards.

An official launch party for the audio book of Gifts and Bones, the debut mystery novel by Vancouver-based author Barbara Murray, was held on Bowen Island.  Barbara lived, worked and raised her children on Bowen Island and was pleased to return to the island for this important event.  Gifts and Bones audio book is read by well known storyteller and Bowen resident, Allice Bernards, whose voice has been heard in a variety of venues from the corner cafe to national and international stages.  This is her first audio book.

The first novel in the Bea and Mildred Mystery Series, Gifts and Bones was released in 2007 by Soames Point Press.  Based in stormy St. John's Newfoundland at the turn of the 20th century, Gifts and Bones tells the story of a troubled boy named Brian Stevens.  With her young cousin, Jean, as her Morse code interpreter, and their peculiar relative, Mildred, as a constant companion, Bea MacDonald gradually unravels the mystery behind young Brian.  A work of well-researched historical fiction, Barbara's first novel in her historical mystery series is shot through with glimpses of the transatlantic cable odyssey back in the middle of the 19th century.  This combination of history with the mystery-lover's ingredients of murder, deceit and blackmail makes for a gripping read.  The second book of the series, Isabella's Passion, will be available in early 2010.
